First Visit to the Studio
If you have not experienced a massage before, here is what to expect in a session. First, the therapist will inquire about any special conditions to be aware of during treatment, and you will be asked to fill out an intake questionnaire required by New Mexico.
You then disrobe in private (to your comfort level), lie down on the massage table and cover yourself with a sheeted drape. (You will be sensitively draped throughout the massage so you feel safe and comfortable.) Massage oils or creams are used to get better glide on the skin and make deeper contact with the muscles.
Low lights, soothing music, and a fountain help create a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Feedback is encouraged throughout the massage, since no one knows your body better than you. You can speak or ask questions during the massage, but people often prefer to be quiet to enjoy the internal experience they are having.
When the massage is over, you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. After the massage you will be invited to take a brief walk around the oasis-like gardens on the property, or down the quiet dirt road, or to just sit on the portale and enjoy the views of the open skies and mountains. This will enhance your relaxation and help ground you before driving home.
